Selection Criteria: Our selection guidelines are based on financial responsibility and behavior history, ensuring a safe and welcoming community for all residents. Unique Partnership: Walker Commons is not your typical public housing project. This exceptional development is a result of a joint venture between the Housing Authority of the County of Butte, the City of Chico, and other invested partners. It operates under the management of the Butte County Affordable Housing Development Corporation (BCAHDC), a non-profit organization governed by a 7-member Board of Directors. Rent Structure: The rental rates for Walker Commons are designed to provide affordable housing based on the median income for a single individual in the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Annually published in the Federal Register, these rates are divided into three tiers, with a specified number of units for each rent level. Section 8 Vouchers: Qualified applicants who possess a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8 voucher) may be eligible to apply it towards their rent at Walker Commons. Current Rent Rates: Please note that the following rent rates are subject to change. We advise contacting us for updated information. - 11 units at $332/month - 23 units at $497/month - 22 units at $607/month Section 8 Participants: Section 8 participants can expect a Full Contract Rent at Fair Market Rent or $634/month.
