Del Norte County Rental Assistance Program for Low-Income Families CCHA, serving the County of Del Norte, offers a valuable rental assistance program to families and individuals with a household income below 50% of the Area Median Income. Our program, known as "Housing Choice Voucher," is the largest of its kind in the United States, providing assistance to over 2 million households nationwide. Locally, we proudly support approximately 600 families in Del Norte. Catering to the needs of specific populations, our agency also administers special vouchers such as HUD-VASH, which focuses on providing housing opportunities for homeless veterans, and the Mainstream program, which targets non-elderly, disabled households. Crucial Information for Applicants Waiting Lists: Given the high demand for low-income apartments, most have waiting lists that may take several years to access. To maximize your chances, we advise you to apply to as many waiting lists as possible. Direct Contact: We provide you with the necessary phone numbers and websites to contact the apartments directly. This way, you can inquire about any openings or open waiting lists. Apartment Rates: On our listings, you can find up-to-date apartment rates for many properties. However, please note that most HUD listings do not have published rates. Instead, they are determined based on 30% of the renter's adjustable gross income. To determine if you qualify for income-based rent, be sure to reach out to the apartments directly. We hope this new structure helps you navigate our rental assistance program effectively. Please feel free to reach out to us for any further clarification or assistance.
