Vermont Villas: Affordable Housing for Senior Citizens and Veterans Total Apartment Units: Vermont Villas offers a total of 8178 apartments specially designed for senior citizens aged 55 years and older, including special needs and veteran seniors. Formerly Homeless Seniors: Out of the 8178 units, 28 apartments are reserved exclusively for formerly homeless seniors who meet the qualifications set by the LA County Department of Health Services programs. Affordable Housing Program: Vermont Villas provides an affordable housing program which is available for individuals and families with moderate incomes. This program allows qualified residents to enjoy rents below the market rate. However, it is important to note that the program is not a subsidized housing program, as each resident is responsible for paying the full amount of rent every month. Income Eligibility: Rental amounts are based on pre-set income limits in the geographic area, and not on individual household income. To be eligible, your total household 'gross' income must be lower than the pre-set income limit for the area. Maximum Income Restrictions: Eligibility for the affordable housing program is subject to maximum income restrictions. Please inquire with the manager for information regarding the current rental rates, income limits, and available subsidy programs at Vermont Villas. Rental Assistance: Rental assistance may be available for eligible residents. It is advisable to contact the management for further information and details regarding income limits. Resident Services: Vermont Villas is committed to providing substantial resident services to support the extremely low-income population. Onsite services, including housing preservation counselors, are offered by PATH Ventures. These services are aimed at mentoring formerly homeless, chronically homeless, and at-risk-of-homelessness seniors. Waiting Lists: Please note that most low-income apartments have waiting lists, and it can take several years to be called for an opening. To increase your chances, we recommend getting on multiple waiting lists. Contact Information: For availability inquiries and open waiting lists, it is advisable to call the apartments directly using the provided phone numbers or visit their websites. Apartment Rates: Apartment rates can vary based on income. We provide current apartment rates on our listing pages whenever possible. For HUD listings, rates are typically calculated as 30% of the renter's adjustable gross income. To determine if you qualify for income-based rent, please contact the apartment management.
