Providing Affordable Housing Solutions for Seniors Finding safe and affordable housing options for people of all ages has been a longstanding mission of Alternative Living for the Aging (ALA) for over three decades. We understand the need for comfortable and economical homes, particularly for older adults who require special care and support. Creating a New Extended Family At ALA, we operate a number of affordable Cooperative Apartment Communities that serve as a new extended family for low-income older adults. These communities foster an environment where residents can rely on one another for the tasks of daily living while maintaining their independence through interdependence. We believe that by forming strong bonds and supporting each other, our residents can lead fulfilling lives. Join the Waitlist ALA manages an open waitlist for three out of the five Cooperative Apartment Communities. We understand the urgency of finding suitable housing, and therefore, we strive to accommodate as many individuals as possible. Monthly rent for our properties varies, offering flexibility for our residents. Our affordable rates range between $495 and $645, ensuring that housing remains accessible to all. Roommate Matching Service In addition to providing Cooperative Apartment Communities, ALA offers a free Roommate Matching Service. This service extends beyond seniors, allowing individuals of different age groups, including mid-age and young adults aged 18 and older, to find compatible roommates. By facilitating these matches, we enable people to not only access affordable housing but also develop companionship, a sense of safety, and the ability to make ends meet.
