However, the Athens housing authority is actively involved in providing Public Housing. To assess your eligibility for an apartment, please take note of the following steps in order for us to better assist you: Heading 4: Family Definition and Requirements - To be considered eligible for public housing, the family unit must meet the Athens Housing Authority's defined criteria for families, as outlined in the Admission and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP). This definition may also be superseded by the regulations set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Heading 5: Citizenship and Immigration Status - It is imperative to meet the citizenship and immigration status requirements established by HUD. Housing assistance through the Athens Housing Authority is exclusively available to U.S. citizens, nationals, or noncitizens with eligible immigration status. - Furthermore, for a family to qualify for any level of assistance, at least one member of the family must be a citizen, national, or noncitizen with eligible immigration status.
