The Waterfall building is a specially designed space for qualified applicants aged 63 and above who have very low income. We aim to provide affordable housing options for individuals who deserve a safe and nurturing place to call home. In 2010, we expanded our community by introducing Blue River Churubusco, a delightful 22-unit apartment complex located in the neighboring town of Churubusco. When you choose to reside with us, you can look forward to having your gas, heat, electricity, water, sewage, and trash services included as part of your rent. We also provide a convenient on-site laundry facility, ensuring that your laundry needs are met without any hassle. Our Community Room is available for both Blue River community events and private gatherings, offering a versatile space for socializing and creating lasting memories. Catered Events and Nourishing Lunches To foster a sense of togetherness, we collaborate with Aging and In Home Services to provide lunch for our residents every Tuesday and Friday at 11:30 AM in the Community Room. Additionally, in December, we host a delightful Community dinner for all our residents to relish. A Revolving Library and Easy Transportation In collaboration with the local library, the Walter building community room is furnished with a revolving collection of books. Each month, new titles are introduced, ensuring a diverse selection for bookworms to enjoy. Furthermore, the Whitley County Council on Aging offers transportation services for our residents, ensuring easy access to local establishments. Donations are welcome to support their invaluable services. Our 1 bedroom apartments boast an average square footage of 550 sq. ft., offering a cozy and intimate living space. A Convenient Locale for All Your Needs While we may be a small town, we are proud to offer an array of local conveniences to cater to your needs. Application Process and Rental Requirements To become a part of the Blue River Apartments community, prospective residents are required to complete an application packet. This packet consists of a rental application, credit consent, police check, consent to release form, sex offender check, and verification of the previous 3 years of landlord history, among other necessary items. Our applicants must meet the income guidelines and rental criteria determined for Blue River Apartments. The Thompson, Walter, and Waterfall buildings operate as follows: Monday: 7:30 AM-12:00 PM, Tuesday to Thursday: 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, and Friday: 12:00 PM-4:00 PM. The Walter building also offers additional hours on Monday: 12:30 PM-4:00 PM and Friday: 7:30 AM-11:30 AM. HUD Subsidies for Added Affordability Blue River Apartments proudly accepts HUD subsidies, ensuring that individuals who qualify for low-income housing can benefit from our exceptional amenities and community.
