Overview: Situated in rural geographical areas, both St. Mary and Vermilion parishes boast a collective population of almost 110,000. By embracing representatives from the private, public, and target sectors of the community, the agency ensures a balanced and diverse board composition. Leadership: Under the guidance of Ms. Almetra J. Franklin, Chief Executive Officer/Head Start Administrator, and six skilled Senior Program Managers, the agency's administration leads the way in efficient service delivery. Workforce: The dedicated workforce of the St. Mary Community Action Agency comprises 205 full-time, 25 part-time, and 25 contract employees. These individuals work tirelessly to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Services: 1. "Head Start" Centers: By operating 15 "Head Start" centers, the agency provides comprehensive early childhood education and development programs. 2. District Service Centers: Two strategically located district service centers offer crucial resources and assistance to individuals in need. 3. Housing Initiatives: The agency oversees a diverse range of housing initiatives including a housing unit plot, a JAG/Youth Development plot, a 32-unit residential development, 15 multi-apartment housing units, and seven one-apartment residential units specifically designed for the elderly. 4.
