Abingdon Gardens - A Senior Community by Catholic Charities Offering 76 one-bedroom apartments, Abingdon Gardens caters to seniors in need of rent assistance. Conveniently located in eastern Harford County, the community is easily accessible from I-95 and Route 40. Situated at St. Clair Drive, near the intersection of Singer Road and Emmorton Road in Abingdon, residents benefit from easy access to shopping, banking, healthcare, recreational facilities, and places of worship in the immediate vicinity. Services and Amenities Provided Abingdon Gardens ensures a comfortable living experience by offering a range of services and amenities. Residents can participate in exercise classes, engage in the Resident Association, access on-site information and referral services, utilize the craft room and resident computer center, enjoy the multipurpose room, relax in the laundry room and lounge, and utilize the personal emergency response system. The apartments are wired for telephone and cable television service, feature an intercom and controlled entry system, and offer elevator access and parking facilities. Income Eligibility To qualify for residency in any of our communities, your gross income plays a crucial role. Income limits are set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The maximum annual income limits for each household are as follows: - All HUD properties (except Starner Hill): $29,250 for one person and $33,400 for two persons - Starner Hill: $26,050 for one person and $29,800 for two persons - Tax Credit*: $35,100 for one person and $40,080 for two persons *Please note that Tax Credit Properties also have a minimum annual income requirement. Our tax credit communities include Everall Gardens, Kessler Park, and St. Mark's Apartments. At HUD properties, rent is set at 30% of adjusted gross income, while tax credit properties base rent on the apartment type, regardless of individual income. Age Eligibility To apply for residency in most Catholic Charities buildings, applicants must be 62 years old or older at the time of application. However, there are five buildings that accept non-elderly disabled individuals. These buildings include Basilica Place, Coursey Station, DePaul House, Starner Hill, and St. Charles House. Non-elderly disabled persons are those who qualify for units specifically designed for physically handicapped or mobility impaired individuals under the age of 62. Screening Process All applicants will undergo an investigative report from a registered Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA). The report will cover credit, rental, criminal, and sex offender history. To be eligible for housing, applicants must meet the established criteria outlined in Catholic Charities' Tenant Selection Plan. HUD Subsidies Accepted This apartment complex accepts HUD subsidies.
