County Housing Programs and Services Affordable Housing Choices for County Residents Our organization aims to provide a wide range of affordable housing options for county residents, focusing on serving those with low to moderate income and special needs. Programs and Services Offered: Housing Choice Vouchers We offer vouchers to eligible families, allowing them to seek housing in the private rental market. These vouchers include section 8, limited subsidies, and project-based vouchers located in Emmitsburg, MD. Bell Court Senior Housing Designed for income-eligible seniors, Bell Court is a small apartment complex with a community center that promotes a sense of community and well-being. Rental Allowance Program We work in collaboration with the Department of Social Services to provide short-term rental assistance to individuals who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless. Homebuyer Assistance Program Our down payment and closing cost assistance program offers deferred loans of up to $5,000 to first-time homebuyers. These loans can be used as a match or in conjunction with mortgage assistance programs such as FHA, USDA, CDA, and the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit Program. Roof Raising Project For income-eligible households living in significantly substandard homes, we offer a roof-raising project. This project involves constructing a replacement home over a weekend with the help of volunteer labor. Livability Code for Renters This code ensures the safety and welfare of renters through property inspections and appropriate citation of owners when necessary.
