About This Building

Committed to Community Development: The Role of Community Action Agencies Established in 1964 by the federal government, Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are dynamic organizations dedicated to fighting poverty in specific regions. These non-profit or public entities gain their status through formal recognition from local or state governments. By employing a tripartite board structure, CAAs actively engage the entire community in the crucial mission of poverty reduction. Through collaborative efforts that involve elected officials, private sector representatives, and low-income residents, Community Action Agencies diligently assess local needs and strive to address the underlying causes of poverty. Empowering Low-Income Families: The Housing Choice Voucher Program Within the realm of housing, Community Action Agencies take charge of administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). This federally funded initiative aims to provide affordable, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market to families with limited incomes, elderly individuals, and those with disabilities. The HCVP is not merely a rental assistance program; it offers enthusiastic participants an opportunity to achieve homeownership, fostering their self-sufficiency. While our waiting list is currently closed, CADA looks forward to releasing a public announcement in the local newspaper to inform interested families about the date and time of the waitlist reopening.
