Housing Programs Provided by Caritas of Austin Priority on Stable Housing Caritas of Austin understands the importance of stable housing in helping individuals transition out of crisis and towards self-sufficiency. Our focused housing programs cater to those who currently lack a stable place to call home, whether they have recently become homeless and are residing in a shelter or car, or if they have been living on the streets for an extended period. Our ultimate aim is to assist these individuals in transitioning to stable and affordable permanent housing. Permanent Supportive Housing Caritas of Austin's Permanent Supportive Housing programs aim to provide both housing and onsite supportive services to disabled individuals who have been chronically homeless. It is undeniable that the long-term experience of being homeless takes a significant toll on one's physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. However, offering a permanent and stable home, along with the support of a case manager and additional resources, can have a transformative impact on a person's overall well-being and life journey. Currently, Caritas of Austin operates five supportive housing programs, providing accommodations for over 150 individuals annually. Housing Stability Caritas of Austin also offers Housing Stability services to families and individuals who are facing short-term homelessness. The goal of these services is to help them regain stability and achieve self-sufficiency by facilitating their swift return to secure housing. Through our Housing Stability services, we respond to individuals in their most critical time of need and strive to quickly re-house them, while also providing case management services to equip them with the necessary tools and opportunities to maintain stable housing. Accessing Housing Services To access any of Caritas of Austin's housing programs, kindly contact our Screening and Assessment phone line at 512.472.4135 during the following hours: Monday - Thursday at 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Tuesday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday 8:00-10:00 am. We have aligned with ECHO and various local service providers to implement a process known as Coordinated Assessment for screening and assessment purposes. The goal of this assessment is to ensure a standardized evaluation process across multiple service organizations and prioritize the most vulnerable individuals. When calling the Screening and Assessment line, you will be asked a series of questions to determine your current needs and identify the best available resources. It is essential to note that this assessment does not guarantee immediate access to services. Rent and Utility Assistance At present, Caritas of Austin does not offer rent or utility assistance. If you require such support, please contact 2-1-1 or visit their website at www.211centraltexas.org for referrals to other service providers.
